"Helping the Underserved with Hearing Loss"
"We provide hearing aids to the underserved people with hearing loss in Chester County and the region."
Hearing loss affects 33% between the ages of 65 and 74 and 50% of those 75 years and
older.
Between 2020 and 2022, the Pennsylvania hearing loss population for those aged 70 to 74 grew
5.5% while those aged 75 to 79 grew by 11.2%.
"Research shows that the risk of dementia doubles with mild hearing loss, triples with moderate loss, and individuals with severe hearing loss are 5 times more likely to develop dementia."
While 5.6% of all the residents in Chester County live in poverty, 21% of the people in West Chester and 24% of the people in Coatesville live in poverty.
Medicare and most Medicare Advantage policies do not cover the cost of hearing aids. Hearing aids are expensive!
Who We Are
Project Description
The Help4Hearing Project: We provide the information available to help share community awareness about our efforts to collect pre-owned hearing aids. Collecting the hearing aids is the first step in the Help4Hearing project. This will eventually lead to providing refurbished hearing aids to the underserved in our region. The Help4Hearing project is affiliated with the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) Chapter of Chester County, PA. We look forward to supporting you by whatever means necessary. Please consider sharing this flyer and information within your organization and community.
